Coleman Parade and Rodeo Archival Project
The Historic Coleman Parade and Rodeo Archival Film Project involves the cooperation of the Coleman Seniors Drop-In Centre Association, Community Futures Crowsnest Pass and the Crowsnest Historical Society. Some time ago, a 16mm color film of the parades and rodeos in Coleman, covering the period 1948 to 1953, was brought to the Crowsnest Museum’s attention. With financial assistance from the New Horizons for Seniors Program of the federal government, research began in the summer of 2009 to identify the people and events portrayed in the film. This archival footage depicts a Coleman that was vibrant and booming in the post-war years, and in viewing sessions with local seniors, many Pass residents have already been identified.
By the spring of 2010, the film, in DVD format and with an information booklet, will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the Crowsnest Historical Society.
