Play in Crowsnest Pass

The Crowsnest Pass has a rich and exciting past supported by excellent interpretive resources for history buffs. Our abundance of historic resources is highlighted by the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, the Bellevue Underground Mine, Leitch Collieries and the Crowsnest Museum. The Hillcrest Mine Disaster Memorial Cemetery displays a national monument commemorating the loss of lives in Canadian coal mining disasters as well as the Hillcrest Mine Disaster, the largest mine disaster in Canadian history. In 2004, Coleman was declared a National Historic District as it incorporates commercial (downtown Coleman), industrial (Coleman Collieries) and residential (miner’s houses in West Coleman) historic sites.

The Crowsnest Pass offers the outdoor enthusiasts activities ranging from world-class fly-fishing to award-winning snowmobiling. In the summer, our 1200+ kms, of mapped and marked snowmobile trails are utilized for mountain biking, hiking and quading and our majestic mountain range has many opportunities to hike, climb and scramble. We invite you to enjoy our 18-hole golf course if you are up for the challenge. The lakes and Crowsnest River are also excellent for canoeing and kayaking opportunities. While enjoying many of these activities, either on your own or with one of our many well-respected and knowledgeable outdoor guides, you will likely have the opportunity to view our abundance of wildlife.

Crowsnest Pass also offers two arenas for hockey and skating as well as a six-sheet curling rink. The Pass Powderkeg ski hill is located in our community and offers lighted runs for night skiing. As well, we are within fifty kilometres from two world-class ski resorts; Castle Mountain and Fernie Alpine Resorts. In addition, we have over 30 kms of mapped, marked and maintained cross-country ski trails.
