BRIEF HISTORY OF CROWSNEST PASS

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass was established by the amalgamation of all the towns, villages and hamlets in the Crowsnest Valley into one unified government as of January 1, 1979.

The natural beauty of this area makes it one of the best big-game hunting districts in Canada with rocky mountain bighorn sheep, moose, elk, deer, grizzly bear and black bear making their natural habitats here.

The "Pass" has some of the best fishing streams in Alberta with an abundance of rainbow and cutthroat.

The areas resources offer above average tourist facilities with abundant restaurants, motels, cabins, B&B's, holiday homes, campgrounds, trails, and historic sites and tours, and recreational facilities, all geared to make the visitor's stay a memorable experience.
